Selling Your Aircraft
You have two major choices to make about selling your aircraft. Should you sell it yourself or should you use a broker? The following information is offered to help you make that decision.
Selling your own aircraft:
Consideration 1:
Nationwide it takes the private seller an average of 183 days to sell his/her aircraft unless it is priced extremely low. The average time on the market with a broker or dealer is 140 days.
Consideration 2:
Approximately 50% of all aircraft for sale by a private seller will be turned over to a broker after about six months.
Consideration 3:
Nearly 90% of all private sellers over price their aircraft by 25% or more.
Consideration 4:
A private seller selling a single aircraft needs to spend $250 - $300 per month to adequately represent their aircraft in the market place.
Consideration 5:
As a private seller you will commit many hours talking with and showing your aircraft to "tire kickers." Many callers are simply not serious buyers.
